Laboratory of chemical synthesis
- Laboratory of chemical synthesis(LCS) deals with preparation of specific polysaccharide derivatives with biological active compounds. Hyaluronan, chitosan, schizophyllan and glucomannan are used for modification. Biological activity as degradation speed in organism, ability of influence evolution and growth of different cell types is changed by targeted modification of structure. Except changing of biological activity of polysaccharide in organism, preparation of material for cell cultivation and drug delivery is the aim of research.
- Cross-linking of biologically biodegradable mucopolysaccharide was used for development of materials usable as a matrix for bone substitution, grafts, thin membranes, diagnostic systems and tissue engineering. Prepared substances are characterized by means of the newest analytical methods before tests in vitro.
- Chemical structure is found by NMR and FTIR spectroscopy, the derivatives could be characterized by molecular weight, pseudoplastic properties, solubility and swelling. By means of "in vitro" tests the tolerance of cells is determined and immune response is observed.
- The great accent is put on purity of derivatives because of their utilization in pharmacy. The chromatography and electro-separate methods are used.
