Laboratory for Wound Healing

  • The aim of the Laboratory is to study the wound healing process, either in healthy organism, either in diabetic or otherwise affected one. The ongoing studies deal with the development of external wound dressings, which are effectively supporting wound healing. These compounds absorb the wound exudate, while forming a gel. At the same time no dressing adhesion and therefore no exchange trauma occurs.

  • Different types of bandages are being developed. The first application is for the chronic wounds, comprising diabetic and venous ulcers and decubites. The second application is for the first aid, which means primarily the hemostasis in acute injuries. .

  • The Laboratory also deals with the determination of physiochemical and biological parameters of bandages. These tests include absorption capacity, protection against microorganism infiltration, hemostatic properties or histological, histochemical and molecule-biological parameters. The cooperation with other internal laboratories, as well with external companies is necessary.
